 Pick up
from your arrival point in Lima and transfer to your hotel/lodging and/or transfer to your departure point
for your trip to Chachapoyas.

Pick up from your arrival point in Chachapoyas, transfer to hotel, dinner, trip briefing and then time to relax.

3 (Thursday): |
Breakfast, then transfer to Tingo via the Utrubamba valley.
an alternative for the
adventurous traveler is to take a mountain bike and cycle the easy route to
Tango, this should take little more than two hours. Begin the uphill walk to
the fortress (9.8km) which should take approximateley 5 hours.
an alternative to walking
is to horsehide to the fortress Set up camp near to the fortress, followed
by -lunch -guided visit to the site -dinner -rest time.

take in the sunrise from one of Kuelaps towers giving an unequalled view of the surrounding area.

Lunch -Afternoon guided
visit to the Maiqui museum which houses over 200 mummies retrieved from the
"Laguna de los condores," it is also possible to see funeral offerings and
many other important artifacts related to the Chachapoya culture. The museum
also has a wonder Orchids collection housing over 100 local varieties.

5 (Saturday): |
Early breakfast - Meet your horse and the team that will accompany you for the next three days.
Departure for the "Laguna de los condores" *Around four hours gentle ascent to the pampas and then three hours in mountainous terrain to reach the pass at 3500m.
Lunch -Approx three hours descent through the unspoiled clouded forest to our camp.
Dinner

6 (Sunday): |
Breakfast -30 minute walk to get a great view overlooking the Laguna.
A further 2hours 30 minutes difficult
walk to reach the mausoleums where the mummies we saw the previous day were
recovered. Here, above the beautiful lake perched on a cliff edge we can
really feel the independent spirit of the Chachapoya *It is an option to
bring along fishing equipment so we can try and catch some delicious trout
from the lake to cook for supper.
*It is also and option to bring along an inflatable dinghy to give us greater freedom from which to view the lake.

Approx fours hours ascent
through the cloud forest followed by three hours to climb to the
pass at 3500m.

Breakfast
Transfer to Chachapoyas
with plenty of time for your connection back to Lima giving you time to
explore the center of this town. *If flying to Lima you will be met at Lima
airport and transferred to your hotel or helped to connect with an ongoing
flight or bus.
